Maths
This term, our Grade 8 students have been diving into the world of linear functions — a key concept in algebra that helps describe relationships between variables. Students have been learning how to write equations in the form y = mx + c, where m represents the gradient (or steepness) of a line, and c is the y-intercept (where the line crosses the y-axis).
Through hands-on activities, graphing exercises, and real-life examples, students have explored how changes in m and c affect the shape and position of a line on a graph. They’ve also practised interpreting linear relationships in everyday contexts, such as calculating earnings, tracking distances, and predicting patterns.
It’s been fantastic to see students building confidence with algebraic thinking and developing skills that will support them in future maths topics. Keep an eye out for their graphing work — it’s impressive!
