Our Grade 8 students have been diving into the world of Business and Economics through their HaSS classes, gaining valuable real-world skills along the way.

Students explored the Australian Taxation System, GDP, and Personal Budgeting, learning how money moves through society and how to manage it effectively. A highlight was the
Mini Business Pitch project, where students created and presented their own business ideas, developing skills in innovation, teamwork, and public speaking.

To tie it all together, students studied The Founder—a documentary about the rise of McDonald’s—which tells the story of Ray Kroc and the rise of McDonald’s. This deepened students' understanding of how businesses expand, the ethical challenges they may face, and the importance of branding, consistency, and customer service in the business world.

The unit gave students practical knowledge and a deeper understanding of how the economy impacts their daily lives.
