Health and Physical Education

Term 2 has been an incredibly busy but rewarding term for our students in the HPE and sports space, with there being many extracurricular opportunities to complement our regular core classes.

We began the term with our second annual House Challenge Day, which incorporates the running of the Cross Country. This was an extremely enjoyable day for staff and students, with there being many laughs shared in the novelty events as well as some healthy competition around the Cross Country track. At the conclusion of the day Allen came away as our 2025
House Champions for this event.

In Week 4 of term, we participated in the annual Bulldogs Cup against Kings Meadows High School at the
South Launceston Football ground, which was again a huge success. After the completion of the Senior Firsts game, we had managed to win the Cup back for 2025 with an overall result of 4 games to 2. We would like to thank the
South Launceston Football Club for their hospitality on the day, and to the many teachers between both schools that gave up their time for this event to take place.

In Week 5, we took a strong team of 45 students to the Inter-High Cross Country event at Kings Meadows High School to compete against every other high school in the Northern region of the state. There were some fantastic results throughout the day, which lead to us winning a number of grade-based pennants and the senior shield before being announced as back-to-back Champions for the Division 1 section of the carnival. This is an outstanding result for our school and is great reward for the hours of work that our students put in.

Throughout the term, students have also been participating in the NHSSA Winter Sports rosters on a Wednesday and Thursday afternoon in Boys Football, Girls Football, Netball and Soccer. We have had some fantastic examples of great skill and sportsmanship from all teams, with students looking forward to continuing this into Term 3.
